Plantations in the Mopti Region
THE CONTEXT
Mali is located in the sahel area and is 13 million people big. It is one of the most exposed Country to global warming and doesn't have the capacity to face the current situation.

Desertification heavily impacts climate evolution, vegetation, water subsidience and therefore natural resources available for the local populations in Mali. This phenomenum is worthen by the eavy usage of wood for domestic needs, in complete opposition with the limited forest resources available.

THE PROGRAM
The NGO Planète Urgence run this Program
 The program is based on the family structure. Reforestation is structured by parcels of 1 ha each, run by a single family on the long term. The program includes the plantation of different species in vue to increase vegetation, soil nutrition and production for the locals.

Our strategy aims at:
  • Selecting farmers motivated by the project.
  • Making sure that the beneficiary will plant the recommanded trees on his parcel.
  • Making sure the beneficiary creates a well and bringing techniques to ensure its longevity.
  • Ensuring the tracking of the parcel by the coordinator
