REFORESTING THE PLANET
THE CONTEXT
The Chihuahua desert is one of the richest deserts from the point of view of biological variety. It extends over 630 000 km² through several Mexican States, up to the southwest of the United States of America.
In this region nevertheless so rich, the impoverishment of Mexican farmers forces them to practice a traditional agriculture of subsistence. The key issue is the lack of access to techniques less intensive than the traditional ones. All of this leads to an important degradation of local agricultural lands and desertification, mainly in the semi-arid zones of North Mexico.
